I wonder what they thought of me? Will they like me? I really need to get to the gym. I can’t believe I said that in that last meeting.

The list goes on and on. I’ve thought about starting an Instagram page dedicated to documenting how I looked before, during and after these instances but it would take too much time and nobody likes to visit an Instagram page that is too close to real life. At the end of the day, these are very relatable and human thoughts so how do we navigate these? Cue: The clip above
The video above is one of my favorites EVER. Lorraine Hunt Lieberson is a goddess amongst singers and, for me, the reason lies within how she communicates the very essence of who she is. Yes, she is portraying a character on stage but you can’t help but be pulled into the quietness of her being. She exudes a sense of control and authenticity. I personally never knew her but colleagues always talked about her selflessness on stage; her dedication to the music and her quiet fortitude.
I am sure Lorraine had doubts and questions but she chose to simply be herself in the end. We are all good enough, even with the mountains of baggage and self-doubt that we carry through our days. We spend so much of our energy and time in comparison to others and how others see us that we forget who we are. Let’s all channel a little Lorraine; I think we’d all be better for it.
